What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a comprehensive and multifaceted medicine with a clinical history stretching back thousands of years. We delicately insert disposable, hair-thin, sterilized prepackaged needles on specific body points that mainly run along 12 major meridians, just beneath the surface of the skin.
Acupuncture philosophy is based on the flow of “Qi”, which is a vital life force energy moving throughout your body. When Qi flow stagnates and becomes imbalanced, it manifests as pain and disease.
Acupuncture restores the flow of Qi and blood and stimulates the body’s self-regulating mechanism.
In Western medical theory, acupuncture improves the nerve signal to your brain and activates the release of natural biomolecules which act as natural painkillers to ease your pain. It also works by stimulating the nervous system by activating nociceptor sensory nerves and proprioceptor fibers that travel from the skin to the spine and brain. Acupuncture helps to address pain and symptoms, speeding up recovery.
It is also a great form of preventative care because it promotes deep relaxation and maintains body’s natural balance.
